Simmons Machine Tool Corporation has been a part of the Albany and Capital District of New York community for over 100 years. This area is not just where our machine tool manufacturing facility is headquartered - it's where our employees and their families live, so it is important to us that we positively contribute to the region.
Supporting manufacturing educational initiatives is one of our priorities, with the goal of strengthening STEM education and addressing the manufacturing skills gap. At Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York, we sponsor the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program and offer a scholarship for students to gain hands-on manufacturing experience. We have also sponsored Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Formula SAE team Rensselaer Motorsport for several years.
We are a partner of the Troy Riverfront P-TECH program, a high school curriculum that puts students on the path to careers in the region's most in-demand fields, such as technology, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing. Simmons' employees frequently host tours of our manufacturing facility for students of all ages from across the region with the purpose of showcasing what modern manufacturing entails.
Simmons' employees regularly contribute to donation drives for the Menands elementary school up the street, collecting food, school supplies, and holiday gifts for children in need. Simmons also regularly donates to the State University of New York - Albany, the Capital City Rescue Mission, and the Capital Region Youth Tennis Foundation.
